Is this protecting my computer in any way or should I remove it. I have ave free and adware and anot

program. Mcafee expired a month ago. When I look at security it says the following.

antivirus-- orange color

antihacker- green ''

antiabuse-- red color

antispam -red ''

under the security index

under service status it says

green virus scan (protected)

personal firewallplus green (protected)

red privacy (disabled)

spamkiller red (Disabled)

Are these things being protected due to Mcafee or windows and can it be removed or should I keep it till everything turns red and is disabled?

What happens when it expires is the updates stop downloading and updating the software. Usually the software still will scan and take out viruses, but you may have to do it manually and delete them yourself and it may not notify you if you have a virus or not unless you have the subscription.

What I use:

AVG Free Edition for antivirus

Spybot Search and Destroy for spyware

Ad-Aware for adware

They are all free. I never had any problems with my laptop.

Download them at www.download.com
Once the antivirus expires and can no longer download updates, it will then become useless because it can no longer protect you from the latest viruses.

Download free Avast abtivirus.

you will need tto renew mcafee or get a new anti-virus since it has run out and therefore you are no longer recieving any updates.
