I have avg anti virus and i have a virus or threat called trojan horse?

i need help i have avg antivirus free edition and i have a trojan horse virus and whenever i scan i find it i move to virus vault then i try to heal it but you cant click the option i deleted it a few times but when i scan the next day i find the same threat again how do i get rid of it my computer is slow and i keep on getting pop ups on internet explorer whenever i visit a website

Try this go to http://www.trendmicro.com and do their free virus scan, I think they call it ''house call''. You should be able to scan and delete the Trojan. Also you could download the McAfee 30 trial and install it update it and use it to get the Trojan. But it sounds like AVG is not getting the job done on this virus. I also hear that Avast is a good free anti-virus. Good luck!

The pop ups may be a totally different issue called spy-ware or ad-ware go to http://www.lavasoft.com and download the free version of Ad-Aware 2007 install it update it and run it and remove everything it finds.

The best way to get rid of trojans is using a best anti-spyware to protect your computer.Anti-Virus is not good at removing trojans,spywares and adwares.

Sluggish computer?

My computer is running very slowly and generally misbehaving. I'm guessing it is a virus, but wondered if there is anything else it could be. The weird thing, the start of this slowness coincided with my installing antispyware--could this be related? (superantispyware, spybot S%26D, AVG) I also have avira antivirus (free edition) set up, which I am currently using to scan for viruses.

Either way, I would be extremely grateful for any advice/guidance on what to do now to sort this out.

Go into 'Control Panel', then click on 'Performance and Maintenance'. There should be a link that says 'Free Up Space On Your Hard Drive'. Try that. I freed up 3GB the other day!

Also, if you've been using Microsoft for longer than 6 months now, its also time for a re-install. The Microsft Windows operating system doesn't last much longer than that under normal use, and performance starts to heavily degrade. You can attempt ''fixes'' like defragging, and additional bolt-ons to try to repair the bloated and corrupted registry - but nothing works like a re-install. Time to spend some more money on something like ''Ghost'' - it saves a good deal of time on the re-installs!

Is there any way to view and delete recently downloaded files on Windows XP?

Some files I had recently downloaded contained malware and spyware. I have avast antivirus (free and not the best, I know) and it's not getting rid of them. The files are not in the Add/Remove Programs section. Could anyone tell me how to find the files please?

2 things you can do. Search for the file (think of the name short and simple - if looking for spyware search only spy) and also click the option hidden files. OR go to the temp folder (go to your C drive or w.e is your main driver and search in that folder.

anitvirus programs dont look for spyware/malware. pay for avast or avg pro if you want better, they are the best.
Sure, just go to Start, Programs, Acc, SystemResore and restore to a date before you loaded them in. Reboot, They will be gone.

Go to C:\windows\Downloaded Program Files\

All Files you see inside this folder are downloaded from your last visit.

You can delete from there.

Clear temp files , cookies and history to remove complete traces.

Empty the recycle bin Too.

These are all basics, but if system is infected these cannot help.
i think u should chek out temporary internet files to remove them....i suggest norton....it' real good

I'm new to computers and I'm using AVG Antivirus Free, Windows Defender, Spybot Search and Destroy, Spyware Docter, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, and Zone Alarm Firewall.

Will these programs work for me to keep my comp safe or is there another program I should get?

Nothing is fool proof you just do the best you can. looks like you have a good selection of tools.
The programs which you is more than enough. But If you have more one firewall or Anitivirus or Antispyware, your computer might be slow and will create lots of conflict.

Use anyone of the Personal Firewall/Antivirus/Antispyware
First; you have to watch for conflicts if you have more than one firewall on, If I had to go with the free programs I would use avg, adaware personal is very good and user freindly.

If you have win def. use that firewall and give it a couple of weeks to evaluate.

and then when i try to sell something i click browse for catagories but then i am unable to click a sub cagtagorie, the sub catagories are grey and unable to click.

this only started to happen when i installed AVG antivirus (Free) and zonealarm and ive checked if it happens on my laptop which has mcafee installed but that works fine on my laptop.

go into your internet/firwall settings and change them to allow limited cookies. If that hasent worked have you made it where you cannot access certain web pages? If you hae you might want to change that as well
